So my life is pretty crazy right now. But honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I mean, maybe eventually I would… Come to think of it, a nice beach vacation actually sounds pretty wonderful right now… Maybe in the Caribbean… I’ve actually only been out of the US once, and it was for a charitable trip, not a beach vacation. Yeah… I could go for nice long Cancun-getaway right about now. I’ll even set aside the Scotch for a steady river of margarita bliss…

But I digress.

You see, there are more important things than vacations and television. I used to watch a lot of television, and then I realized that those who live great stories rarely have time to watch others living them on TV. Don Miller taught me that.

But yeah, life is a little crazy right now.

Beyond my 50 hours on-location at the steakhouse, there’s my work with The Clergy Project, and then there’s my dizzying determination to finish editing that book by the end of July (That’s what I should be doing right now instead of blogging). Then there’s the blogging (See, there it is. That’s how much I love you). And then all the certification and preparation stuffs I’m doing to launch my life-successes-and-career-coaching-thing in the months ahead. And my kids–Oh My Amazing Girls!–at least a third of my non-steakhouse days go exclusively to them! No distractions allowed!

So yeah… Life really is pretty insanely crazy right now. I can barely keep my head on straight at times… But I really, honestly, truly wouldn’t have it any other way. I have my goals in sight, and the thrill of attaining them is unlike any other.

And here’s the thing: We all have the power to attain our goals.

I mean, if your goal is to jump over the Willis Tower in a single leap or to manipulate Kim Jong-un telepathically from the other side of the globe, these might be a little less attainable. But the truth is, if you take time to really think things through, to think through what you would like to make of your life and what it is that you want to be defined by, if you take the time to think things through and map out a good plan, you really can attain just about anything you set your mind to. And I find that absolutely amazing. Mesmerizing.

Quite thrilling really.

In his first inaugural address, President Franklin D Roosevelt stood before the nation on March 4, 1933 and offered one of the most canonized of speeches in modern history. Yes, this is the one where he declared that “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself,” but it’s also the one where he said something less remembered but just as profound:

“Happiness lies… in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.”

Yes. Abso-freaking-lutely, it most certainly does.

So the moral of today’s little tale is this: Strive for your greatest goals. Be realistic, think it through creatively, consider how well it aligns with your own personal power-mix, and then be bold, be a badass, and make it happen. Bring others alongside you to build a community of encouragement and support, but be bold, be determined, and make it happen. Yes, it is worth the fatigue and borderline insanity. I’m here for you and we’ll do it together.

I’d love to hear about your own goals and achievement-plans in the comments below! Start sharing freely. I’ll check in every now and then. But it’s time for me to stop playing on WordPress. I’ve got a book to finish!!!
